A Poem for a Child

Well my personal encounter with covid is over. I have survived. Though it has taken me months to get back on an even keel. But now I think I am. My Grandson Gabriel will be christened later this year. And my sister Anny found a poem by my mother. She wrote: I was sorting some mum stuff out this morning (this will probably be going on until I’m about 90 myself given the volume of writings and stuff that are about) and I came across this single sheet of A4 that mum had drafted a rather beautiful little poem on….perhaps for Paloma or Florrie….or maybe for you Loveday or Sam or the girls…but I thought finding it now that it was also meant for Gabriel…and might be something you might like to have read at his christening? Oh and by the way, the grandchildren in the photo, from left to right, are Gabriel, Paloma and Florence. Now here is that poem:

Blessed child

Blessed child

Light and life

Are all before you

Blessed child

Blessed child

The arms of Love uphold you

Blessed child

Blessed child

God protect you

God’s light guide you

Blessed child

Blessed child

Trust in Him

Trust His voice always – all ways
